A Summer Beat, a concert in aid of Save the Family and World Vision, was our first under the curation and direction of Sue Marrs. Our regular pianist superstar, Alison Moss, was joined by the excellent Neil Middleton on drums and percussion, to accompany a range of musical styles (full list below)
Other special guests were Poppy Hayward who joined Alison to delight the audience with a Jazz Suite of piano duets, Latin, Blues & Swing (Mike Emerson) and Fin Paterson who treated us to the ultra smooth, I Get a Kick Out of You (Cole Porter) and You Make Me Feel so Young (Myrow & Gordon).
As a community choir, we sing for fun and fellowship. Concerts are an opportunity to showcase our progress to our ever loyal supporters, raise awareness of causes that were admire, and a bit of funds to support them. We are grateful to all who came to support us and our wonderful guests. Also to the wonderful Alison and Sue for their patience and encouragement to bring out the very best in us.
We were delighted that funds raised from ticket and raffle sales contributed £450.00 to support the work of Save the Family and World Vision.
Our next concert will be in December.
